Kind_Punk пишет: 03 июл 2022, 23:56 a monster like this:

If today were tomorrow, we would have been living here for 3 years since we have moved here.
А что такого монструозного в этом? Вполне себе, IMHO, конструкция, например, для косвенной речи:
He said that (if today/that day were) tomorrow/the next day (,) we would have been living here for 3 years since we had moved here.
Поправьте пжлста, если мой разум уснул на жаре и породил (еще одного) грамматического монстра :)

First, no one would ever say that )

Second, the monster was 'have' for 'since' was supposed to be 'because' ))

I got it.
So let's put it down to the sultry midday heat, which now abated, for I can clearly see what's so wrong with it. Thanks :)

Tell that to Cambridge Dictionary:

My take on it is that one can't live anywhere for three years unless they have/had moved there.
So, the "since we have moved there" part doesn't make sense there unless it means "because we had moved there (three years ago/before)".
Kind_Punk, am I right?
As for
Yety пишет: 04 июл 2022, 21:34 They haven't received any junk mail since they've moved house.
there's nothing wrong with it, for they still live where they moved and they haven't recieved any junk mail up to the moment when that is being said.
Or do I still miss anything?

Makes even less sense to me that way.

That may just as well be applied to KPunk's sentence.

🤔Why?
The since-part is factual, so it should be in the indicative, since the irrealis, couterfactual ["subjunctive"] part is already over at 'for three years'.

Facts:
Today is not tomorrow yet. We have not been living here for three years yet. We moved here nearly three years ago.

Counterfactual:
If today were tomorrow, we would have been living here for 3 years ...
Fact remains:
...since we (have - Cambridge.) moved here.
