Hello, guys. I am a beginner and I really like to learn English. I sometimes come across phrases where the meaning seems to be the same, but the difference lies in the little things.

Could you tell me the difference between "show the particular form" and "show the specific form".

Thanks for your attention

It depends on what you mean by 'form'. 'Specific' can mean the same as 'particular', but it can also mean 'precise', which I think is applicable to some forms but not to all.

Interestingly enough, this question was closed as too basic at the ELU site:
This question is too basic; it can be definitively and permanently answered by a single link to a standard internet reference source designed specifically to find that type of information.
https://english.stackexchange.com/quest ... s-specific
It was eight years ago, and since then no ESL-learner have dared to ask it again, not to pest those all-knowing native-English speaking snobs who rule the roost there.
I wonder, which single link resource might they have meant? Maybe this
https://wikidiff.com/specific/particular
or this one
https://www.dailywritingtips.com/partic ... %20context.
or some forums like "Hi, native!"?
Anyway, I wish you good luck in trying to grasp the full nuance difference between the two... (in case it matters this much to you)
It seems they, EL-native speakers, themselves can't explain it more or less helpfully :-)
As for me, I'm with acapnotic : The devil is in the details . Or in taxonomy, where it's "specific" )))

Yes, so be more specific in your questions because we are very particular about them. :)
