I've got the opposite problem. To avoid overusing 'of', I'll often string nouns together, then check my translation and...it turns out that the option with 'of' is used far more often. My point exactly! I've given this advice to my students a few times and gotten quite monstrous concoctions back as a result... So, I'm trying to come up with some kind of rule or at least a general guiding principle...

Такое понимание не исключено, естественно. Хотя первое осмысления a sugar bowl = a container for sugar.
