I don't know. It seems that a locative adjunct is mandatory.
The reason for inversion in such cases is that starting with subject, especially with dummy there/it might appear boring. So we need something "new"/"fresh" at the beginning of a sentence.
I wonder if any other types of adjuncts are suitable for inversion?

Of cause verb "be" is almost always about "location". But what if we use alternative verb? I see example, like: "Under the window stood a vase."
Can we make the trick with temporal adjunct (yesterday) or modificative (in silence)?
