QwestDay,
As for your initial request, I can't think of anything more helpful than Oxford Learner's Thesaurus.
And I don't mean the book--it's the CD-ROM it is sold with. If you're sort of a techie, you'll find the way how to save your money.
Anyway, you can easily buy the book+CD-ROM on the Ozone site.
https://www.ozon.ru/context/detail/id/2 ... X0EALw_wcB
Also, you may look what's inside the book, downloading the PDF from here:

Тема с синонимами не проста.
Чем крокодил отличается от аллигатора? Или жаба от лягушки? Нужны специфические знания, как правильно разглядывать зубы крокодила.
fling / cast / throw / toss / flip / pitch / roll - это только что знаю, а в словаре намного длиннее список.

Разные "Common Errors In English Usage" тоже коственно полезны. У каждого издателя свое есть. На affect / effect лишний раз не помешает посмотреть.
Я Collins (украинскую адаптацию, очень дешево, оригинал) купил. Мне полезно, при B1.

Ну в словаре, наверное, что-то должно быть. В крайнем случае - в гугле.
Что чаще используется - то и берите за основу.
belly
noun [ C ]
uk
/ˈbel.i/ us
/ˈbel.i/
informal
the stomach or the front part of the body between your chest and your legs:
He fell asleep with a full belly and a happy heart.
By the sixth month of pregnancy, Gina's belly had begun to swell.
the rounded or curved part of an object:
The belly of the aircraft was painted red.
abdomen
noun [ C ]
anatomy specialized
uk
/ˈæb.də.mən/ us
/ˈæb.də.mən/
the lower part of a person's or animal's body, containing the stomach, bowels, and other organs, or the end of an insect's body

When an 800-pound gorilla wants to read a newspaper, where does it sit? Anywhere it wants! That children's joke is the origin of a common phrase, "800-pound gorilla," which means, "someone or something so big and strong that it gets anything it wants." Simple, well-written definitions can be helpful, but to understand how idiomatic phrases are used, you need real-life examples. This friendly e-book has more than 3,900 carefully-chosen examples of more than 1,100 common phrases.
Idioms in the News is an updated edition of the popular e-book for students, teachers, and everyone who loves language. The new 2020 edition includes hundreds of citations chosen throughout 2019

автор газетчик. большинство иллюстраций из газетных публикаций, напечатанных в разных регионах США. в принипе стоит ожидать, что там упор в сторону газетно-информационного стиля. думаю, это очень полезный источник. желательно только не забывать откуда он проистекает.About the Author

Это важно. Также полезно делать поправку на то, что это не полноценный словарь, над которым обычно работает не один десяток человек, а инди-версия.
