Well, with all those challenges having been transferred to another section, I guess personal threads are becoming more and more popular here. So, I've decided to join in and open my own one. This is going to be a place for me to practise writing and to work on some my weak points of mine. I'd be more than greateful grateful if somebody pointed out my mistakes and, if necessary, explained them to me. I´d rather embarrass myself in front of you, guys, than in front of my students.
As of now, I'm not quite sure what I'm going to write about; I guess it will be more like a blog with where I'll be sharing some of my thoughts and ideas, but with the intention of perfecting my English and using some new vocabulary and grammar.
Even if you don't spot a mistake but think I could have expressed my ideas in a more natural way by using some idioms, phrasal verbs, or more natural collocations, feel free to leave a comment.

I don't come across this one often. Is it something that might require a comma, or is it redundant here?

We were transferred from one bus into another.
Sorry, I thought of something else. Still, let the link be here just in case :)

Juliemiracle, You are absolutely right about the comma there, but I do not think the expression is odd in itself.

zymbronia, I wrote transfered instead of transferred. Of course I should double the "r" in words like referring, preferred, conferred and the like, but overreliance on spell check made me lazy. As I am writing here without a spellcheck, all my spelling problems will be revealed.

No, no, no. I didn't mean to imply that it's odd at all. I wasn't sure myself how to interpret it: = now (thus, no need for a comma) or sth like 'as for me' (the other way round). Judging by your thumbs-up, I guess I'm pretty sure now :)

Juliemiracle, oh, yes, I don't know how I will write my CPE without a spellcheck; I hope I can at least choose a computer-based version of this exam, hoping that my fingers will remember how to type things correctly and will do that instead of me))) Spelling is a problem for me in any of the languages every language I can write in.

What about these commas over here? After reading that again, it dawned on me that they are absolutely redundant...Belka_Teacher пишет: ↑25 мар 2018, 23:02 to embarrass myself in front of you, guys, than in front of my students

I would change the following:
( it's more about style rather than mistakes)
1. some of my weak points
2. I would appreciate instead of a bit too posh I 'd be more than gratefull not greatfull
3. I prefer rather than it's better for me
4. it would be something like a blog where I'll be sharing ..
5 .improving my English and using/practicing grammar and a new vocabulary ( grammar is not new)
6. find a mistake rather than spot
7.Spelling is a problem for me in all of the languages...

tourist, why is some of my weak points better than some weak points of mine? I wanted this phrase to sound a bit emphatic
The same with I'd be more than grateful. I think it is perfectly in line with all the other phrases. I intended it to be a bit posh and a trifle ironic.
And all the other corrections with the exception of the spelling of grateful - I just can't understand why your versions are better than mine; could you explain your choice of phrases, please?

Some of my points = some points of mine
it just sounds easier on the ear of mine :)
grateful : well, if it was posh intentionally keep it
it's not better for you , you don't want it, you prefer it wasn't so
spot is usually used in phrases like spot the difference, find is more organic here
but as I said, those are not mistakes.. use it , don't use it

tourist, there are 113 000 000 results in google for 'spot a mistake', so I think I'll still leave it this way.
Some of my points IS the usual way of saying it, and I meant to be more emphatic. Moreover, my unusual 'points of mine' is in line with a more emphatic phrase I'd be grateful to and with my almost British accent, which you, of course, can't hear, but it suits my personality, so I intend to use some posh phrases from time to time as they reflect a bit who I am)))
I remember refusing to eat with just a fork when I was a child; I asked for a knife or wouldn't eat otherwise. Thinking about it now is quite embarrassing, as I did it not only at home (well, at home that wasn't a problem at all), but also while visiting my relatives. What a spoilt child I was!
Thank you for your ideas; I'm rather flattered by all the attention.

Belka_Teacher,
OK, I'm glad that your last reply was less hostile than the first :)
Speaking of using forks ... as you surely know, In England they use it upside down which I find ridiculously inconvenient ,
but, hey, you're the posh one, not me )
btw my google only get 348000 hits for "spot the mistake" as a phrase, which is of course still a lot.

tourist, try spot A mistake, not spot THE mistake ))))
And I never meant to be hostile; I even can't understand which phrase made you think that way. Anyway, I'd like to apologize I made you feel that way. You're always welcome here.

Belka_Teacher, don't trust Mr Google blindly, try going to the last page. :) Surprisingly, it may not be that far. And notice the number of hits, which is a lot smaller than the initial 467 000 displayed on the first page.
