9. shouldn't have done
14. discovered
16. think/ am thinking

1 C
2 A
3 B
4 C
5 C
6 C
7 B
8 C
9 B
10 B
11 B
12 A
13 ??? не вижу нужного варианта, я бы сказал - used to go
14 A
15 B
16 B

Тоже думала про used to go, но его здесь нет...

9 - shouldn't have done,
в 10 тоже - should have stayed
11 - are probably right

16 - согласен с was thinking
25 - возможно might've got (раз спрашивает Did you get the job?, а он пока просто не в курсе, какое они приняли решение.)

11 - С

***

Yety,

14. had discovered
I went to the phone and had discovered that I had left my purse in the car...

16. was thinking
A: What do you think I should have done?
B: I don’t know. I was thinking of several things.

2 distancing in questions, requests, etc: I wondered if...
We can make questions, requests and offers less direct (and so more polite) by using past tenses. (For more about 'distancing' of this kind, ► 311.) Common formulae are I wondered, I thought, I hoped, did you want. (► 311.1.)
I wondered if you were free this evening.
I thought you might like some flowers.
Did you want cream with your coffee, sir?

Past progressive forms (I was thinking/wondering/hoping, etc) make sentences even less direct. (► 311.2)
I was thinking about that idea of yours.
I was hoping we could have dinner together.
