I agree, there is a curious tendency for a longer request to be treated as more polite. Reasonably longer, I guess.
I'd like "me" / "myself" *to have* something to eat/drink-я хотел бы чтоб меня заставили,чтоб я был вынужден принудительно покушать.Бред конечно. Про myself посмотрю у изралевич -Качалова.
You don't need to put these words there. Some verbs are both transitive and intransitive. I shaved / I shaved him - see the difference?
