It was the first time I'd met such a… castrated clause. I'd like to understand which verb (in p.p. form) is missing, wake up or do. I've been browsing the net for quite long to answer the questions, what that grammatic structure is and how it works, but to no avail so far. Also, I'd like to know if it could work, strange as it may sound, in the future tense, for example:As he had nearly every weekday for the past decade, Mike woke up at five in the morning.
And lastly, can it be used only in writing, or can it be heard in speech too?As he has nearly every weekday for the past decade, tomorrow Mike will wake up at five in the morning.
