tourist,
Not go there is not an option for the folks who've been struggling on learning the language for years on end without any distinctive improvements...

As for in for a penny, in for a pound...
gimme some credit ,man, will you ?
I'm just extremely curious what you were implying by "how I am doing this", that's all.
(There is no particular "how", naturally. I just type whatever pops into my head when I think of something.)
I'm keen to know what you think.
QwestDay, Zlatko_Berrin,
my "theory" is just that... a theory.
I've got no proof, so I'll keep quiet ... for now..
Even if I'm correct, that won't be of much help to you guys.
Я вполне себе верила, плюс/минус, в историю Eager Beaver до вот этого поста

There is an undercurrent of two competing tendencies on the forum. Some users believe that you can totally learn any language on your own, using authentic material and without so much as opening a textbook. Others maintain that hiring a tutor and following a well thought-out course syllabus is a much faster way to language mastery. )
Я могла бы ожидать что-то вроде этого от образованного нейтив-спикера.
Just saying.
QwestDay пишет: ↑09 июн 2019, 21:34Eager Beaver, agree with the others, it's all very impressive. Just 2 years. But I am still in the dark about your secret. To put it in one word, "How?". Were there any posts in which you revealed your way of working on your language? What I wouldn't give for that secret 3 years ago!
I would love to think that it's all because of the wife, top-flight teacher or whatever opportunities you have in Moscow, but you said it's not the case.
I don't know what answer you're expecting me to give here. The one I have will look like a hackneyed recipe to anyone who already can read English. You study grammar, you learn vocab, you add a lot of input to this and practice whenever you have the chance (and even if you don't have ample opportunity to practice with people in real life, do it on your own or take it online). I don't think I should dwell on the minutiae of my routine here - we've already been occupying Белая Мишка's thread for too long - but even if I do, you are highly unlikely to find any magic or eye-opening revelations.

У нас в обычных магазинчиках - совсем обычные тортики. Это в больших городах большие кондитерские - большой выбор)
Понятно! Я думала Рошен везде продается на Украине.
У них красивые фирменные магазинчики, я видела но это в Киеве было, да.
Eager Beaver, yeah, theory, practice, input.. For everyone it's the same, but the results are different. I realise it's impossible for you to teach us the ropes right away, but we need it [background sad music]

smoke and mirrors ... smoke and mirrors ...
So the witch-hunt is still on?
Ever since I joined this community, you've been trying to call me out on lying. However, sometimes, you know, if it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.
Eager Beaver,
No,buddy, I'm not about to burn you at the stake)
I think you're a valuable member of this "community",for lack of a better word.
It's just that your value,as I see it, has nothing to do with learning English.
Anyway, as I've said a few times before...I'm not your enemy, believe it or not. )
I would be interested only in the amount of time Eager Beaver devotes to English. I mean the total number of hours or at least the average number of hours spent per day. It would explain Beaver's level (to some extent, of course) and show the correlation between the time spent studying English and the level of English. I think the correlation is strong enough.

I'm note sure there even are any "ropes" to teach. You try different techniques, figure out which ones work for you best and then apply them consistently. Your preferences will change over time. I can share a few things that I'm doing myself, but they won't necessarily be as effective for anyone else.
