Наблюдается устойчивый паттерн:
conceive -
concept/conception
receive - receipt/reception
deceive - deceit/deception
Чисто технически (произношение и ударение) в этот pattern больше подходит
conceit хотя конечно смысл несколько неожиданный.
Вот два контекста (и два разных смысла) в которых я встречал это слово:
By reason of these things, then, the whaling voyage was welcome; the great flood-gates of the wonder-world swung open, and in the wild conceits that swayed me to my purpose, two and two there floated into my inmost soul, endless processions of the whale, and, mid most of them all, one grand hooded phantom, like a snow hill in the air.
Moby Dick, 1851, Herman Melville
‘What use is your life to anyone? When I think of you've made of it the phrase “pig's ear” comes irresistibly to mind.’
‘But I was President of the Galaxy, man!’
‘Huh,’ muttered his ancestor, ‘and what kind of a job is that for a Beeblebrox?’
‘Hey, what? Only President you know! Of the whole Galaxy!’
‘Conceited little megapuppy.’
The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, 1980, Douglas Adams
В принципе, слово не редкое - особенно во втором смысле. Вот я просмотрел книгу которую сейчас читаю:
In the midst of Kepler’s mathematical raptures, and despite his sequestered life, the imperfections of the outside world must also have molded his character. Superstition was a widely available nostrum for people powerless against the miseries of famine, pestilence and deadly doctrinal conflict. For many, the only certainty was the stars, and the ancient astrological conceit prospered in the courtyards and taverns of fear-haunted Europe.
Cosmos, 1980, Carl Sagan
